After attending high school in Parry Sound, Dann received multiple scholarships to attend the hair styling and aesthetics program at Georgian College. Graduating with top marks, he went to work in multiple Guelph salons making his stylistic impression on the city and working his way up to head stylist . Dann was a regular competitor in Schwarzkopf's Hairapolooza over multiple years and participated in Schwarzkopf's 2011 Essential Looks show in Barrie. Realizing that creativity could only go so far in the salon world, Dann eventually returned home to Parry Sound to pursue a career in the film industry.

The film industry provided the perfect mix of fast paced & high intensity environments. It also was the outlet for bold, risk taking, creativity which Dann prides himself in. With film he had found the exact right place to channel his passion and hone his skills.
While for the past 10+ years Dann has worked on TV and film projects across Ontario, he has also travelled across Canada in pursuit of projects worthy of his talent. From splinter unit shoots for a CBC TV series in Kitimat BC, to multiple features in Ottawa, and all the way to the east coast for multiple network TV series, Dann will travel for a script that connects with him, his values and vision.
His most recent projects of note include "You're Killing Me" (ft. Brooke Shields, Amalia Williamson, and Tom Cavanagh - filmed in western Nova Scotia for Acorn TV / AMC Networks), "Revival” (ft. Melanie Scrofano, Romy Weltman, David James Elliott, Andy McQueen, and Steven Ogg - which shot in New Brunswick and made its premiere on both US Networks [SYFY] and Canadian broadcasters [CTV / CRAVE] in 2025) and "Adulthood" (ft. Josh Gad, Kaya Scodelario, Billie Lourd, and Anthony Carrigan - which shot in Ottawa and premiered at TIFF as part of the 2025 line up). However, the first ever scripted content series for Amazon Canadian Originals – “The Lake” (ft. Julia Stiles), which was a campy comedy about life on the lake - still holds a special place in Dann's body of work as it was one of the first Northern Ontario productions where he could really let his creativity soar.
Northern Ontario remains home base for Dann, his husband Rob, and their close family / friends. Being a part of projects which are close to home is always special, but Dann knows that creativity knows no boundaries and that he’ll ultimately be destined to go wherever the creative spark shines the brightest. “Projects that are challenging and innovative are always the most appealing. Adapting to new locations, learning new textures / designs, and understanding how to tell unique stories through hair keeps me well practiced and on top of my game.”
